Suspect Charged with Second-Degree Murder After Fatal Stabbing at Scarborough Home
Toronto police have charged a man with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing at a home in Scarborough on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were dispatched to a residence near Ellesmere and Orton Park roads, just east of Scarborough Golf Club Road, shortly before 5 p.m. after a report of a stabbing. It remains unclear who made the call to police.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman with severe stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and a suspect was taken into custody.
In an update on Monday, police identified the victim as 54-year-old Dushi Lakshmanan. Authorities later confirmed that the suspect, 50-year-old Ragulan Lakshmanan, is the victim’s brother.
Ragulan has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident and was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Monday.
