Canterbury Bulldogs Set to Secure Toby Sexton Amid Brisbane Broncos Interest

SYDNEY, Australia — The Canterbury Bulldogs are in the process of locking down rising halfback Toby Sexton, despite interest from the Brisbane Broncos. Sexton, who is off-contract next year, is currently in negotiations with the Bulldogs for a contract extension that would keep him at the club until at least the end of 2026.

The 22-year-old former Gold Coast Titans player has been a key figure for the Bulldogs, helping guide them to the NRL finals this year. The Bulldogs are reportedly working on a minimum 12-month extension, with the possibility of a longer-term deal as discussions progress.

Sexton’s manager, Tas Bartlett, has already had preliminary discussions with Bulldogs football boss Phil Gould, signaling the club’s intention to retain the young talent. “Toby has really found a home at the Dogs,” Bartlett told the Courier Mail.

“I’ve had a couple of informal chats with ‘Gus’ (Gould) and he wants to keep Toby around. With the season out of the way, we’ll sit down properly and discuss an extension,” Bartlett added.

The Broncos have been linked with Sexton, as they look to bolster their roster, but Canterbury appears determined to hold onto the Australian Schoolboys playmaker. Sexton’s strong performance since joining the Bulldogs mid-season has solidified his place in the team’s future plans, making him a priority for the club.

With the NRL offseason now in full swing, Bulldogs fans can expect further developments as both sides work towards securing Sexton’s long-term future in blue and white.
