Oldest Boston Marathon Runners from New Hampshire: Dick Correa Passes Away at 75

In a solemn turn of events, Dick Correa of Newbury, New Hampshire, a beloved long-time runner and fundraiser, has passed away at the age of 75. Correa, known for his remarkable participation in 18 Boston Marathons, was set to run the 128th edition alongside fellow 75-year-old Bob Kennedy from Durham, making them the oldest participants from New Hampshire.

Correa had been a dedicated member of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team, raising a staggering $350,000 to support cancer research. His passion for running and fundraising left a lasting legacy. Reflecting on his marathon experience, Correa once said, “When you finish a marathon, there is a sense of achievement. All that training, and then you get through it. It’s hard, and it feels great.”

Bob Kennedy, who has completed marathons in all 50 states three times and was on the verge of completing his fourth circuit, shared his love for the sport: “I love the fact that I can just put on my shoes and go out the door and run for as long as I want. When I travel, whether it’s New York, Washington D.C., or Paris, I can just walk out the hotel and go for a run, seeing parts of those cities I’ve never seen before.”

Correa’s passing marks the end of an inspiring chapter for the New Hampshire running community, but his contributions to both sport and charity will be remembered for years to come.
