Bulldogs Boss Phil Gould Addresses Investigation into Josh Addo-Carr’s Roadside Drug Test

Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould has spoken out regarding the ongoing investigation into star winger Josh Addo-Carr’s roadside drug test. Addo-Carr was stopped by police on Friday evening and underwent a random roadside test, prompting widespread rumors of a positive result for cocaine.

Initially, Gould denied any issues, stating on social media platform X that Addo-Carr had passed the test and was allowed to continue on his way, saying, “There is absolutely no truth to rumors that Josh had any issue. None whatsoever.”

However, hours later, conflicting reports emerged. 9News Sydney reporter Danny Weidler revealed that the Bulldogs were now looking into the incident as police alleged the test had returned a positive indication for cocaine, with the sample sent for further analysis.

NSW Police confirmed the stop, explaining the situation involved a 29-year-old male, with a sample currently undergoing analysis. While Addo-Carr has not been charged, the Bulldogs have taken steps to investigate, with Gould meeting with the winger and his manager to clarify the situation.

Despite Addo-Carr missing the Bulldogs’ round 27 clash, he was expected to feature in the finals series, but recent developments have cast uncertainty over his immediate future at the club. Addo-Carr was also reportedly told not to attend Canterbury’s end-of-year awards night on Monday.

Gould admitted to being “confused” by the conflicting reports and said further clarity would come from the second drug test. He added that while Addo-Carr denies taking any substances, the matter remains unresolved.
