While Sinner has faced the fallout from his failed tests for months, the story became public just days before the US Open, making it the biggest talking point in tennis. In response, Sinner parted ways with his fitness coach Umberto Ferrara and physio Giacomo Naldi, citing the need for “clean air” amid the turmoil.
“They [Ferrara and Naldi] have been a huge part of my career,” said Sinner. “But because of these mistakes, I’m not confident to continue with them. I just need some clean air.”
Now, with Panichi joining his team, Sinner aims to rebuild his support network with proven winners. Panichi, who was a key figure in Djokovic’s camp before his surprise exit earlier this year, brings extensive experience in managing elite athletes. Panichi spoke about his time working with Djokovic, saying, “Working with Novak was a great privilege. Elite players push you to do more and more, but that’s part of the game. I plan to bring the same discipline and focus Novak had to Jannik.”
