PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) – A tragic incident occurred in Tennessee on Tuesday when a 15-year-old boy, Tristen Franklin, collapsed and died while jogging in his neighborhood.
Tristen, a student at Sycamore High School, was on his regular cross-country route when the tragedy struck. Troy Simpkins, a neighbor who frequently saw Tristen during his runs, mentioned that they would often greet each other. On that fateful day, Simpkins saw Tristen running but didn’t notice anything unusual until another neighbor alerted his husband about Tristen’s collapse.
Emergency services were called immediately, but despite their efforts, Tristen passed away.
Expressing his sorrow, Simpkins said, “My heart just goes out to them. It is incredibly sad. He was so young and had his whole life ahead of him. It’s a reminder to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you.”
The Cheatham County School District expressed their deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and friends during this difficult time. The impact of such a loss is immeasurable.”
In response, counseling services will be provided at Sycamore High School to support those affected by the tragedy.
It’s worth noting that temperatures in the Pleasant View area exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday. The cause of Tristen’s death has not been officially released as the coroner continues their examination.
