After six years in the broadcast booth, Earnhardt will be stepping away, citing a desire to explore new opportunities. This move comes amid a broader restructuring within NASCAR’s media coverage, which includes a new seven-year media rights deal introducing Amazon and TNT Sports as key players in broadcasting NASCAR events.

While Earnhardt’s departure has sparked speculation about behind-the-scenes conflicts, he took to social media to clarify that his decision was amicable and driven by a desire for new challenges rather than any issues with NBC. He is expected to take a year off before possibly joining Amazon Prime Video and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports in 2025​(
