Jose Mangin Celebrates Science + Metal With Public Charity

Jose: My love for metal started early, thanks to a gift from my Nana in kindergarten. Despite pursuing a degree in pharmacy, my passion for metal led me to a career in radio. After starting a metal show in Tennessee, I moved to New York City and joined SiriusXM in 2000, helping to build the rock department. The “Metal Ambassador” tag was coined by a friend and has stuck ever since.

Jose: I’m a huge fan of bands like Paledusk and BABYMETAL, and I’m committed to supporting global metal. The rise of female-fronted bands and the increasing acceptance of non-English songs in the metal community show that metal is truly a universal language.

Q: Can music break through language barriers?

Jose: Absolutely! Music, especially metal, transcends language. The energy and feeling in the music unite us, making it a global force for positivity and unity.
