Bronny James has been advised to ‘take it easy’ in the NBA, helping to allay LeBron’s biggest concerns.
Although Bronny James is starting his professional basketball career with the Los Angeles Lakers’ G-League team, it’s anticipated that he will be promoted to the NBA roster at some point during the 2024/25 season, potentially making history as the first father-son duo to play together in the league.
If LeBron and Bronny do share the court next season, it will mark a historic moment in NBA history. Given the significance of this milestone, LeBron will likely be keen to ensure his 19-year-old son stays focused and avoids distractions.
Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, who once competed against LeBron, has cautioned the four-time MVP about the potential pitfalls. On his “Gil’s Arena” podcast, Arenas humorously suggested that LeBron could face the reality of becoming a grandfather in his 40s if Bronny were to make a major mistake.
Arenas joked, “He’s just one wild night away from being a grandpa. Like, he’s one Miami road trip away from getting that call, ‘Hey, Pops, you’ve got a grandson.’”
With Bronny earning a significant income from his four-year, $7.9 million contract, he is set for financial stability beyond what most people experience. While many young NBA players become parents early, LeBron was already an emerging star with the Cleveland Cavaliers when Bronny was born. In contrast, Bronny is still working to establish himself in the NBA. It remains to be seen whether he will embrace a partying lifestyle now that he has substantial financial resources, or if LeBron will successfully instill the discipline needed to keep him on track.
