Leigh Leopards Make History with 26-0 Win Over Salford Red Devils

In a remarkable display of dominance, the Leigh Leopards secured a 26-0 victory over the Salford Red Devils at Magic Weekend, marking only the fourth time in the club’s Super League history that they have won a match without conceding.

The match, held at Elland Road on the second day of the annual event, saw Edwin Ipape and Umyla Hanley both score tries for Leigh in the first half. Zak Hardaker played a crucial role, converting both tries to give the Leopards a 12-0 lead at halftime. Hardaker then added a penalty early in the second half, and later, scored a try himself, following a powerful run by Ipape.

The Leopards continued to press their advantage as Keanan Brand set up Ricky Leutele for the final try of the game. Hardaker’s successful conversion of the try sealed the 26-0 victory, adding another significant achievement to the club’s storied history.

This victory places the current Leopards squad in a distinguished category of their past teams. Prior to this match, Leigh had only managed to secure three Super League wins without conceding. The most recent of these was under the guidance of Adrian Lam, who led the team to a 32-0 triumph over Wakefield Trinity last April.

In 2017, during their final Super League season before relegation, Leigh, then known as the Centurions, achieved two similar victories. They defeated Huddersfield Giants 30-0 in March and later won 25-0 against Salford in July.

The Leopards’ impressive performance at Magic Weekend not only highlights their defensive strength but also positions them as a formidable force in the league, continuing a proud tradition of exceptional performances in the Super League.
