During the opening game on the second day of the event at Elland Road, Edwin Ipape and Umyla Hanley each scored tries for the Leopards in the first half. Zak Hardaker converted both tries, giving Adrian Lam’s team a 12-0 lead at halftime. He added a penalty early in the second half and then scored a try himself after a strong run by Ipape.

Keanan Brand later set up Ricky Leutele for the final try of the game, with Hardaker adding another two points to secure a 26-0 win, further cementing the club’s history.

Before this match in Leeds, Leigh had only achieved a Super League victory without conceding on three previous occasions. Lam had overseen the most recent instance, a 32-0 win against Wakefield Trinity last April, where Josh Charnley scored twice and several other players contributed tries.

In 2017, during their last Super League campaign before relegation, Leigh, then known as the Centurions, had two such wins. They beat Huddersfield Giants 30-0 in March, with Reynolds scoring and kicking five goals, and later defeated Salford 25-0 in July.
