LeBron James and Stephen Curry, along with the remarkable Victor Wembanyama, were the standout figures in the basketball tournament at the Paris Olympics.

Despite their previous rivalries and frequent NBA matchups, they put aside their differences to help the U.S. Dream Team secure its fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

Their on-court partnership was a visual and sensory treat for basketball fans, sparking speculation about whether they might join forces on the same team again.

Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. An anonymous NBA executive has stated that LeBron and Steph will never be teammates again, neither in the Olympics nor in any other official competition.

“Did the analyst really suggest that LeBron and Steph might team up in the future? That will never happen,” the NBA executive told Sam Amico, a noted basketball analyst for FOX Sports, CBS Sports, Amico Hoops, and the Boston Herald.

“In fact, they’ll never play on the same team again. Their impressive Olympic run was noteworthy, but any chance of them being teammates is gone for good,” added the anonymous source.

LeBron’s Career Ending with His Son Bronny

At 39, James averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game on 54.0 percent shooting during his 21st NBA season.

Having signed a two-year contract with the Lakers this summer—$48.7 million for the first year and $52.6 million (player option) for the second—his focus is on finishing his career with his son Bronny on the Los Angeles team.

Meanwhile, Curry, often considered the greatest shooter in NBA history, is 36 and has two more years remaining on his contract with the Warriors, at $55.7 and $59.6 million per season. The team is dedicated to having him retire with them.

The chance for them to reunite is no longer feasible. Despite their remarkable performance together this summer (with LeBron named Olympic tournament MVP), it is likely this was the last time they will play together.

With James at 39 and Curry at 36, they are approaching the end of their careers, and any future reunion is no longer a realistic possibility.

Steph has already stated that his Olympic participation was a one-time event, and LeBron is expected to retire in 2028. In the future, they will likely only compete as opponents in games between the Lakers and Warriors.
