Bad news; Cardiff City face triple injury blow ahead of Sunderland opener

Cardiff City’s Isaak Davies, Jamilu Collins, and Kion Etete are facing extended periods out due to injuries. The trio missed the Bluebirds’ 2-0 pre-season victory over Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Ground. Manager Erol Bulut confirmed that Wales Under-21 international Davies, Nigerian left-back Collins, and forward Etete will miss the start of Cardiff’s 2024-25 season. Bulut told BBC Sport Wales that Davies will be out for four months, Etete for three months, and Collins for six to eight weeks.

In addition to the trio, Callum Robinson, David Turnbull, and Mark McGuinness also missed the match against Bristol Rovers. Robinson and Turnbull were rested after playing the full game in the 2-1 win over Reading three days earlier. McGuinness was left out as a precaution due to a muscle issue, according to Bulut.

Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ralls scored in each half to secure the win for Cardiff in their final pre-season match. The Bluebirds will kick off their 2024-25 Championship season against Sunderland in south Wales on 10 August at 12:30 BST.
