Buchwald gained fame as the agent of Howard Stern, the outspoken radio personality who had been his client since 1984. Stern frequently referred to Buchwald as “Superagent” on “The Howard Stern Show.” In an interview with the New York Times, Stern praised Buchwald, saying, “Everyone in Hollywood should have a Don Buchwald in their life. I would never want to be without him, and I don’t need anyone but him. It sounds like a love song, but it is.”

In 1977, Buchwald founded Don Buchwald & Associates, now simply known as Buchwald, with a small team of just five agents in New York. His swift success led to the expansion of the agency, including the establishment of a second office in 1992. Today, Buchwald employs around 130 staff members and represents a diverse array of clients from various media and entertainment industries across the United States.

Buchwald is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Maggie, and his daughters, Julia and Laura Buchwald.
