“Again” Televangelist Joel Osteen speaks out amid critics

Joel Osteen Responds to Critics Over Comments on Enjoying ‘Simple Things’ in Life

Megachurch pastor Joel Osteen has addressed critics who labeled him a hypocrite for advising his followers to enjoy the ‘simple things’ in life, even if they don’t have abundant resources. The 61-year-old televangelist faced backlash after telling people that money does not bring happiness, while he himself resides in multimillion-dollar mansions.

Despite the criticism, Osteen continued to share his message on the social media platform X. He stated that he refuses to give attention to his detractors, citing his faith and positive outlook as his shield against negativity.

“The Scripture tells us to guard our minds. Be selective of what you allow in. If the thought is negative, discouraging, bringing worry and fear, do yourself a favor and don’t let it in. It’s not complicated; don’t dwell on it. Don’t give it the time of day,” Osteen said on Tuesday.

In another post, he added, “When your mind is filled with the positive, there’s no room for the negative. When you’re full of faith, praise, gratitude, believing for the best, then when the negative comes, you won’t pay it any attention.”

Osteen’s remarks emphasize his commitment to maintaining a positive mindset and encouraging his followers to do the same, regardless of the criticisms aimed at his lifestyle.
