Former Manchester United, Aston Villa, and current Everton defender Ashley Young has shared a heartfelt message to Gareth Southgate following his departure as England manager.
After eight years in charge, Southgate announced his decision to step down. During his tenure, he led England to two major finals and a semi-final at the 2018 World Cup, where they lost to Croatia. Despite his achievements, both Southgate and the Football Association have decided to part ways, with Eddie Howe reportedly in line to replace him.

Ashley Young, who was recalled to the England squad by Southgate after four years, expressed his gratitude on Instagram: “Thanks Gaffer, what a journey it’s been. You brought me back into the squad after 4 years and when we talk about togetherness you brought that to the National Team in abundance. 2018 was the start of bringing our country together again. Thank You.”
Southgate rejuvenated Young’s international career by recognizing his development as a full-back while he was at Manchester United. Young, now 39, has since won a title with Inter Milan and continues to play in the Premier League.
