NBA YoungBoy has garnered the support and sympathy of Akademiks after their recent meeting in Utah.
On Saturday (May 25), the internet personality shared that he visited the Baton Rouge rapper and gained a deeper understanding of his current situation.
“My prayers are with NBA Youngboy,” Ak wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I went to grave digger mountain, sat with him, talked with him, argued with him. This is an artist and a man who has been unfairly isolated, tortured, and portrayed as an evil person. He isn’t that. How does he have a case against him and have to live in a room for years without resolution? He already beat one federal case [in July 2022].”
YoungBoy has been under house arrest in Utah since October 2021 after being indicted in Louisiana for “felon in possession of a firearm.”
Last month, YoungBoy was charged with 63 counts, including identity fraud, forgery, obtaining a prescription under false pretenses, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, a pattern of unlawful activity, and possession of a controlled substance.
In early May, KUTV reported additional charges against him, including possession of a firearm by a restricted person and two counts of obtaining a prescription without permission.
A few days later, FOX 8 in New Orleans reported that YoungBoy’s bond was set at $100,000 during a court hearing, with his arraignment scheduled for July.
The rapper was arrested last month in connection to a prescription drug fraud ring in Utah. According to the affidavit, the scheme involved calling in prescriptions using a real doctor’s identity and a fraudulent patient name for Promethazine with Codeine. These prescriptions were then picked up by YoungBoy or his associates. Suspicion arose when YoungBoy allegedly impersonated a doctor and used the word “axed” instead of “asked.”
