Gautam Gambhir was officially appointed as India’s new head coach by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Tuesday, succeeding Rahul Dravid. Dravid, who led the team to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, concluded his tenure on a high note. Gambhir, a two-time ICC World Cup winner, emerged as the frontrunner after a successful stint with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024, where he guided them to their third title. Despite his limited coaching experience, Gambhir is set to receive a salary comparable to Dravid’s, pending finalization of his contract with the BCCI.
