Everton will miss out on Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi this summer

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Everton made a bid to sign 27-year-old midfielder Wilfried Ndidi, but he has chosen to remain with Leicester City. Tavolieri shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the Foxes will confirm Ndidi’s decision in the coming days.

Ndidi, a highly experienced midfielder, was available for free after his contract expired. Everton attempted to bring him on board, but it appears Ndidi will sign a new three-year contract with Leicester City instead. Tavolieri wrote on X: “Wilfried Ndidi decided to stay at Leicester City despite Everton FC bid. News supposed to be confirmed by Leicester City in the next days. Confirmed.”

Ndidi, who has extensive Premier League experience and has made 58 appearances for Nigeria, would have been a strong addition to Everton. The club is looking to strengthen its midfield, especially with Idrissa Gueye turning 35 in September and the potential sale of Amadou Onana if a strong offer is received.

Despite missing out on Ndidi, Everton has made some smart signings this summer. However, manager Sean Dyche should continue seeking an experienced central midfielder, regardless of Onana’s future at the club.
