SAD NEWS: LSU Tigers key player requested not to play again…

Brian Kelly and the LSU football staff continue navigating through the busiest time of the year while juggling the NCAA Transfer Portal, Early Signing Period and ReliaQuest Bowl preparation.

The Transfer Portal has treated this program well through the first three weeks of the first window. The Tigers have reeled in a trio of impactful players while seeing a limited number of guys depart Baton Rouge.

The win of the week came when LSU defensive back Sage Ryan revealed he will not enter his name in the portal and remain in Death Valley.

Here’s full guide on LSU’s Transfer Portal moves made this month.

The Additions:

Zavion Thomas: Wide Receiver

The Mississippi State star is a proven return specialist with elite-level hands that can provide the Tigers with a monster weapon ahead of the 2024 season.

After two years in Starkville, Thomas was ready for a change of scenery, electing to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Now, the Louisiana native is a Tiger after this program showed immediate attention to the elite weapon.

Thomas is a player we expected the Tigers to handle sooner rather than later. Despite being a hot commodity in the portal, LSU put a full court press on him with an unofficial visit taking place last week before a decision was revealed.

After a 2023 season where he totaled 503 yards on 40 receptions, Thomas will be a key piece to what LSU builds next season. Keep tabs on the Louisiana native as both a coveted wideout for this program as well as return specialist.

Jardin Gilbert: Safety

The Louisiana native, and former U-High standout, returns home to suit up in the purple and gold with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
