BREAKING NEWS: Pittsburgh Steelers Reunite With Key Defensive Player…

The Pittsburgh Steelers are known as one of the best franchises in the NFL. Usually, when moving on from a player, it tends to be the right decision for Pittsburgh.

The Steelers arguably gave up on one player too soon in 2023. Now, they are going to reunite with that player in 2024. However, it comes in controversial fashion.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to sign CB Cameron Sutton. This is expected to be a one-year deal.

Sutton has been in the NFL for seven years. He spent his first six seasons with the Steelers. Then, after Pittsburgh moved on from him, he signed with the Detroit Lions in 2023.

What has Sutton done in his NFL career? Well, he has nine interceptions, six forced fumbles, and 233 combined tackles. Last season, Sutton had an interception, a forced fumble, and 65 combined tackles.

On the football field, the Steelers are certainly getting a productive player. Sutton had more combined tackles in 2023 than any other season in his NFL career. However, this is not likely the reason why Sutton was even available this long for the Steelers.

Originally, Sutton was locked up with the Lions for three years. However, a domestic battery by strangulation case resulted in the possibility of Sutton being locked up in an American prison for up to five years. As a result, the Lions decided to release Sutton once a warrant for his arrest became public knowledge.

Since then, Sutton has been a free agent. However, considering this is public knowledge and Sutton is not currently sitting in prison, Pittsburgh seems to be willing to take a chance on him. Considering his production on the field, you could argue the Steelers are getting him at a discount.

There are several things surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers. For one thing, head coach Mike Tomlin has gone 17 straight seasons without a losing record. Now, the Steelers are facing a lot of changes to keep this streak alive.

The main change comes at the quarterback position. After Kenny Pickett did not end up working out for the Steelers, the team ended up acquiring Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. With this defensive acquisition, it could give Pittsburgh more flexibility on offens
