Joe Flacco is fully back seals new Browns contract

Joe Flacco enters free agency with a much higher value than he did a year ago.

However, if successful, the 39-year-old quarterback will remain in Cleveland until 2024.

Flacco is one of the Browns’ pending free agents, and a recent report suggested he evaluate the market if possible.act as a beginner.

He did it to finish the 2023 season — surprisingly effectively — filling in for the injured Deshaun Watson.

The latter, however, is still years away, meaning the new Browns deal will relegate Flacco to backup duties.

However, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports that a move to Cleveland is Flacco’s “first choice” 

The former Super Bowl MVP joined midseason after not receiving much interest after the Jets’ season ended.

He took over a severely injured offense and helped the team reach the postseason.

Flacco earned Comeback Player of the Year honors and would undoubtedly be capable of winning at least the big prize.

Reserve contract with any number of teams on the open market if he tries to play two more years.

It will be interesting to see how willing the Browns are to have conversations in the coming days to prevent him from reaching free agency.

The team currently has a cap hit of around $6.8 million.Cleveland signed Flacco to a new contract that further increases the capital investment under center.

Watson is set to take nearly $64 million off the cap over the next three years, which means another restructuring is necessary.

The Browns also added Dorian Thompson-Robinson in the fifth round of last year’s draft, giving them a young, cost-effective option at QB even if Flacco leaves.

A trade between various bridge picks that will hit the market. Allows the Browns to maintain depth after Watson’s season-ending shoulder injury.

There are several outside options available, but keeping Flacco could be the team’s ultimate move if his desire to stay matches Cleveland’s valuation.
