What a Controversy: Cowboys Don’t Want Dak Prescott “Reset QB Market”Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott.

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott don’t see eye to eye on a contract extension.

“There’s no question Dallas wants Prescott to stay at quarterback,” wrote Jon Machota of The Athletic. . .

“But the team wants to make a deal that doesn’t reset the QB market.”

Prescott, who is entering the final year of his four-year, $160 million contract, reportedly wants a $60 million deal. ,

making him the highest paid player in the NFL. That would be the boss.

According to Spotrac, his market value is a four-year contract worth $50.8 million per year.

The problem for the Cowboys is that Prescott has the upper hand in contract negotiations.

He has a no-trade and no-tag clause in his contract.Extending the three-time Pro Bowler saves $26.2 million in cap space.

Dallas was able to use it to re-sign wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and linebacker Micah Parsons.

According to the OTC, Dallas is $10.6 million over the cap.

The Cowboys could use one of the void years on Prescott’s contract (2025 and 2026) to save $18.5 million, but that decision comes with risk.

The 30-year-old, who finished second in MVP voting last season, will attract suitors when he becomes a free agent in 2025.

“We don’t have to, but we can if everybody wants to do it,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said recently of the new deal, via Machota.

“If you can’t, what we have will work. So obviously if you do it one way, it gives you an opportunity to work differently in another team.

You can’t plan for it until you see where you are.” . That’s what we do.”But Jones and Co. should be more proactive.

Dallas has the 24th overall pick in the draft, meaning he won’t find a replacement.Sporac founder Michael Ginnitti suggested the Cowboys offer Prescott a three-year, $175 million contract with the biggest league signing bonus.

historyThis may be the best option for both parties. The QB would get the salary he wants and a shorter contract will encourage him to win his first Super Bowl before he retires.

NFL  Broncos make major decision with QB Russell Wilson The Denver Broncos have officially moved on from Russell Wilson.

The Broncos notified Wilson on Monday that he would be released.

Head coach Sean Payton and general manager George Paton released a joint statement thanking the veteran quarterback for his contributions to the team.

Wilson also released a statement saying goodbye to the Broncos and fans in Denver.

The result was largely expected when Wilson was benched with two games left in the 2023 season.

The Broncos opted to avoid an injury guarantee to release his contract, signaling that they are determined to move on from him.

Denver, of course, would have preferred to trade Wilson, but the 35-year-old’s massive contract made that impossible.

In his second season with the Broncos, Wilson had 3,076 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions, following only Payton.

He is now free to sign with any team and there has been talk that he could make a surprise signing decision.
