Tottenham plan to offload a number of players before appointing a new midfielder later this month, according to Football Insider sources.

In an interview with the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer reporter Pete O’Rourke revealed that Ange Postecoglou is trying to “release players” who are not part of his long-term plans.

After a number of first-team departures this month, the club would like to see more players leave before bringing in a central midfielder.

Neither has featured consistently this season and the club are keen to offload them if the right offer comes along.

The club has seen several transfers this month, with Hugo Lloris moving to MLS side Los Angeles FC and Eric Dier to Bayern Munich.

The club have also signed loan deals for Japhet Tanganga at Millwall and Sergio Regulion at Brentford.

Tottenham are believed to continue to actively pursue the midfielder, who is on their target list.

Tottenham moved up to 5th in the Premier League after a 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

They return to action in their FA Cup fourth round tie against Manchester City on Friday, January 26.
