Landen King highlights Utah Landing’s transfer to Auburn.

Utah State’s Landen King is doing his best to secure more Auburn transfers to play at the University of Utah.

ESTA somewhat mysterious postComing out of high school as the No. 29 prospect in Auburn’s 2021 recruiting class (247Sports Composite Rankings), King committed to the Utes and had a breakout year in 2023.

It’s unclear if King’s position targets a specific Auburn Tiger, but there are several players who would fit the bill.

The most interesting of them is Ja Varius Johnson. Johnson, a senior wide receiver for the Tigers in the class of 2023, hit the transfer market this offseason and has already received an official offer from the Utes.

According to On3, Johnson is currently committed to UCF and Utah. Their prediction model currently gives the Utes about a 47 percent chance of landing a free agent extension.

Johnson, who had 64 catches for 1,114 yards and eight touchdowns during his time with the Tigers, would be a monumental addition for the Utes.

Ashford, a freshman at the University of Oregon, has been on the Tigers’ roster since the start of the 2022 season.

Ashford, a 6’3 dual-threat linebacker, played multiple games as Auburn’s starter in 2022.

He will lose his starting job in 2023, but will still play 10 games for the team and be a strong threat at the back. Overall,

Ashford rushed for 217 yards and five touchdowns on the season.

The starting quarterback position on Utah’s roster is reserved almost exclusively for Cam Reesing, but the team could use some depth at the quarterback position.

With some controversy surrounding Brandon Rose’s usage and availability following the team’s recent performance, it is unclear if there will be a viable backup for Rising for the 2024 season.

The team has the option to go with freshman Isaac Wilson, but could also prioritize experience over raw talent.

If the team wants the former, Ashford could be an interesting pick.

All information available so far in the transfer cycle suggests the Utes have yet to make an offer for Ashford.

However, the offseason has only just begun, so there is still plenty of time to add players.

King, who has ties to the Tigers program, could be the key to making a move to the Utes.

Let’s hope his cryptic tweets pay off for the Utes, as both Johnson and Ashford would be great additions to the program. In this article (1)Utah UtzUtah Utesv
