The Browns are expected to announce two roster moves before the Texans game.

Cleveland Browns have had a lot of injuries this season.

Cleveland has had 18 injuries this season, the sixth-most in the NFL this season, according to Spotrac.

However, the quality of these players is among the best in the league, and their roster makes up 25.78% of the team’s payroll.

So the Browns have had to move players from the practice squad each week to provide needed depth, and they did so this week with two trades before Cleveland’s Week 16 matchup against the Houston Texans, KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reports.

Tanner McCalister is an Ohio State rookie who spent most of the season on the Browns’ practice squad.

Charlie Thomas III is a rookie out of Georgia Tech who has played the entire season for the Browns, but has only appeared in two regular season games this year.

Played on special teams in both games. Neither player can make a huge impact on the game, but they provide help and depth on special teams when injuries occur.

The team announced that there would be no safety. Juan Thornhill and linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. and special teams linebacker Jordan Kunashyk.

D’Anthony Bell will likely start in place of Thornhill again with McCalister as the immediate backup, while Thomas III will be the backup linebacker alongside Walker and Kunaszyk.

The Browns are looking to earn their first postseason bid in 2020, but several other teams could be eliminated in Week 16.
