‘Does feel’… Phil Hay shares what he has heard on Jaidon Anthony amid reports he could return to Bournemouth

Jaidon Anthony has played just 61 minutes across Leeds United’s last eight Championship matches.

The 24-year-old moved to Elland Road on a season-long-loan from Bournemouth back on deadline day in the summer, with Luis Sinisterra moving in the opposite direction.

However, the two players have managed just three starts between them since their respective moves, which would suggest that neither have gone to plan as of yet.

And last week, reports began to surface from Team Talk that Leeds and Bournemouth will hold talks about ending both loan deals early in January due to the lack of game time.

But speaking on the latest episode of the Square Ball Podcast, Phil Hay says it is unclear what Anthony’s ‘intentions’ are at this stage, but he does feel very much like fourth choice at the moment.

Anthony a victim of other players’ form

Hay said: “As for Anthony’s intentions, I don’t honestly know with him. He has not played much at all, Spence hasn’t played much but he has been injury, Anthony hasn’t. But Anthony is very much on the fringes and does feel like fourth choice out of four.”

Anthony was a decent enough replacement for Sinisterra at this level but has unfortunately been a victim of the form of those in his position, with Crysencio Summerville and Dan James having been on fire.

Summerville is very much first choice on the left at the moment and has made himself undroppable with his recent form, which means minutes have been hard to come by for him.
