Alabama’s college football rival, Michigan, has been full of controversy this season.
The Wolves suspended coach Jim Harbaugh for three weeks after his involvement in a sign-stealing scandal.
On Monday, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban was asked if there were plans to change the UA sign at the Rose Bowl.
“Not quite, not exactly.” Saban said. “We’re always changing things up a little bit, but we’re focused on what we need to do to do well and don’t worry about it.
“The Michigan scandal involved former Wolverine employee Connor Stallion, who ran a scheme to buy tickets to games of future U-M opponents.
The stallions then sent others into the game to steal the chips.
Tagging is a common practice in college football, but using electronic devices to do it is prohibited by policy.
Michigan challenged Harbaugh’s suspension in court, but ultimately dropped the effort.
One of the games the Stallion bought tickets to was the 2021 SEC Championship game between Alabama and Georgia.
Saban was asked about his reaction to the scandal last October.
“I had no idea anybody was playing in the SEC Championship Game,” Saban said during an SEC coaches conference call.
“I don’t have much information or details about the theft of this sign.
I focused a little on my team.“But there was a time when I was in the NFL, sending out scouts and doing plays and personnel and things like that.
It may not seem like your intention is to steal the sign, but it is allowed.
I think they changed the rule a while ago. “That hasn’t happened in college in a long time.”Alabama and Michigan are scheduled to play in Pasadena on Jan. 1.
Nick Saban isn’t worried about Michigan stealing a spot in the Rose Bowl.
The Michigan football program has been under intense scrutiny all season.
Technically, the Wolves are still under investigation amid the tag-stealing scandal involving employee Connor Stallions.
Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh has coached just seven of Michigan’s 13 games so far this season.
He will be in charge when the Wolverines face Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Rose Bowl.
Is Nick Saban worried about controversy? Obviously not.”Not quite, not exactly.” Saban said.
“We always change things up a little bit, but we just focus on what we need to do to get it right and we don’t worry about it.”
What does straw do?”The first three days of practice, I tried to focus on the fundamentals,” Saban said. “
I think everyone needs to train with a plan and a purpose. Everyone needs to reinvest in conditioning, fundamentals, execution, blocking and discipline approach.
All this leads to positive results in the game. “With almost a month between games, I think it’s difficult to carry the momentum of the season into the games.”
“It’s a great opportunity for our players. This is a big challenge for them.
But you owe nothing when you play this game. Making the playoffs is like a one-game season, so we have to do everything we can.
And everyone is working hard to achieve that goal.”
