But despite earning more than $330 million during his playing career, the issue now appears to be one of the retired NFL legend’s money.
Team owner Mark Davis initially agreed to sell 10 percent of the Raiders to Brady for $200 million.
However, 10% of NFL teams make nothing less than $200 million.
That means Brady might have to make more money. All NFL franchise purchases must be approved by a majority of team owners and require at least 24 affirmative votes.
NFL owners are scheduled to meet in Dallas next week to discuss a number of issues facing the league, and Brady’s offer to buy part of the Raiders is not expected to be discussed.
But Brady’s recruiting efforts are “clearly not dead,” the Washington Post’s Mark Musk reported.
The NFL’s ownership committee has issues with the size of the waivers Brady will receive, but Muske said he may be willing to find a “good deal” in other ways.
