The Browns’ win sparked a homecoming controversy sparked by Garrett’s outspoken criticism.

The Cleveland Browns picked up a home win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon, but one of their cheerleaders was in a foul mood.

Myles Garrett expressed his displeasure with the officiating during the game during his postgame interaction with the media.

“Today’s referee was a joke.” Garrett said without hesitation.

To be honest, I was scared. Respect them. “It’s hard for them, but it’s hard for us,” he said.

There were moments during the Cleveland-Jacksonville game where the refereeing decisions were scrutinized, most notably during the Jaguars’ final touchdown.

A questionable defensive pass interference penalty on Browns quarterback Anthony Walker raised eyebrows in Cleveland.

Additionally, Garrett was frustrated by interceptions and tackles that went unnoticed by officials, especially when he tried to pressure Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

“I have a lot of respect for those guys, but we get scrutinized for the plays we don’t make and somebody has to be held accountable for the calls they don’t make,” Garrett said.

“It has to be under the same microscope that we put all our pieces under.”

EzoicAlthough Garrett’s explicit comments could have resulted in him being fined by the league office, the NFL has maintained stricter measures against public criticism of referees.

But Garrett, who signed a lucrative five-year, $125 million contract extension, seems willing to pay the price to make his feelings known.

Despite Deshaun Watson’s season-ending injury, veteran Joe Flacco stepped up for the Browns and led them with 311 passing yards and three touchdowns in a 31-27 win over the Jaguars.

Defensively, Garrett’s individual performances included one tackle and no sacks, but Maurice Hurst II, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Za’Darius Smith each recorded a sack for Lawrence.

With an 8-5 record, the Browns kept their spot as the wild card in the AFC playoff race.Ezoic
