Cleveland Browns sign Grant Delpit to contract extension

The Cleveland Browns are wondering if Grant Delpit will be released as a free agent after this season.

Your question has been answered. OBR spokesman Brad Stainbrook said the Browns and Delpit had agreed to a new contract..

News of the extension was announced via OBR Insider Central at 5.30am this morning, followed shortly afterwards by a contractual estimate of how much the extension would cost.

Grant Delpit was Andrew Berry’s second pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, 44th overall..

The LSU product missed his rookie season with an Achilles injury.

He started the 2023 season in spectacular fashion, looking like one of the best relievers in the league.

Since then, his play has declined, ranking 56th with 18.3% of his 65 safeties and 94.4% of his targeted receptions, which are currently worst in the NFL.

Delpit, 25, is in his fourth season with the Browns and is scheduled to head to free agency without renewing his contract.

He was originally a second-round pick in the 2020 draft, but sat out that season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

He returned as a seven-game starter in 2021 before moving to full-time starting in 2023.
