Browns, Jaguars idle report: Big surprise for both sides

Trevor Lawrence joins, Denzel Ward leaves.Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland.

The injury story between the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars went nowhere for QB Trevor Lawrence.

The star quarterback is expected to start today for the visiting Jaguars, while QB Joe Flacco is expected to start for the Browns.

The weather was expected to be bad but it turned out to be mostly clear except for a bit of wind.

For Cleveland, today was the day CB Denzel Ward was expected to return, but new news came before the inactive reports that he would not play.

With Lawrence in and Ward out, the weather could be an issue for the Browns defense today.Ward and Jones were big losses for Cleveland today.

WR Christian Kirk was placed on investor relations earlier this week.

All of the Jags’ questionable offensive players were available to play, while Fatukasi and Campbell were questionable defensively.

The Browns scored quickly on a Joe Flacco-David Njoku pass.

CLEVELAND – Defensive end Joe Flacco wasted no time getting the Cleveland Browns on the scoreboard against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Early in the drive, Flacco completed all four of his passes, hitting a 34-yard pass on third-and-1 that left David Njoku wide open.

According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Njoku had 10.2 yards to go when he was tackled by a defender.

That’s the second-highest passing total for the Browns this season. 

Flacco, who signed with the Browns last month after quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a shoulder injury, is set to make his second start for Cleveland.Last week, Flacco, 38, became the oldest player to throw for the Browns.
