The NFL has suspended Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Dom DiSandro for his controversial game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without one of their key safeties when they travel to play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

The NFL announced Saturday that Eagles safety Dom DiSandro will not play in Sunday’s game after an altercation during last week’s game.

DeSandro, who joined the franchise in 1999, was linked to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Dre Greenlaw before being fired on Nov. 26.

The scuffle on the sideline started when Greenlaw tackled Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith after the whistle and caught a 15-yard touchdown.

The situation escalated when Greenlaw was ejected after video showed the 229-pound quarterback angrily touching DiSandro’s face on the Eagles sideline.

DeSandro will not play in the game against the Cowboys, but will be available to handle day-to-day business at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Greenlaw said he and DiSandro apologized through a mutual friend, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“A formal apology has been made between me, [Niners general manager John Lynch] and some people we know,” Greenlaw said, via ESPN .“He looked like a real man.

He seemed to be everyone’s favorite person in the building.

So honestly, I don’t like it. I hate that it escalated and got this far.

In the wake of the controversy, the NFL sent a league-wide memo Wednesday urging teams to “ensure that all game-day personnel understand that their role is not to be involved in game-day discussions and that they should avoid such involvement.
