Everton midfielder Andre Gomes update shared ahead of Chelsea clash

Doctor: Everton player now likely to miss Chelsea clash despite Sean Dyche update

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton…

Everton midfielder Andre Gomes still appears to be some way away from returning and is unlikely to be fit to play against Chelsea, according to Rajpal Brar.

The Toffees play host to the London outfit at Goodison Park on Sunday, 10 December, hoping to continue their good run of form.

Sean Dyche said on 6 December that he has been training positively, but the injury expert still claims he’s not ready for a first-team return.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“Now that he’s back in full training, his routine will be much more similar to the other players as you want to see how his body responds.

“Considering he’s been out for the entire season thus far, he will likely be monitored closer and still potentially going through some targeted work in specific areas of need so he still appears some way away and not ready to return just yet.”

Gomes has not played a single minute for Everton this season and Dyche surely will not be pleased with the fact.

The Portugal international is among the top earners at Goodison Park and it remains to be seen what the decision will be on his future.

Even when fit, he’s probably going to be fourth or fifth in the pecking order and will not even play in most games for the Toffees.
