Browns RB Jerome Ford shows support for Joe Flacco as QB decision nears.Updated

Joe Flacco could get his first start for the Cleveland Browns this week.

Joe Flacco could get his first start for the Cleveland Browns this week.

The Cleveland Browns are in trouble again with Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s injury, which could lead to Joe Flacco’s first start of the season.

If that happens, Jerome Ford will be a fan of this move. “It’s definitely comforting to have somebody like Joe Flacco,” Ford said Monday, Nov. 27.

“With everything he’s done in the same room with Joe and on the same team with Joe, we’re excited to see what he can do to help the team and how we can help him and build that relationship.

“Ford also talks about what Flacco brings to the locker room as a veteran leader.

Thompson-Robinson is a rookie and PJ Walker is a Journeyman QB, so adding a linebacker with a 180 career rating to the gym is a big step.

Flacco has completed 3,881 of his 6,299 career passes (61.6%) with 232 touchdowns and 147 interceptions.

He compiled a 99-81 (.550) record as a starting pitcher and is 10-5 in the postseason.

He won the Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013 and was named the MVP of that game.

The Browns aren’t ready to make a decision on their QB.Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski.

Thompson-Robinson is questionable to play in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

He suffered a concussion after being hit hard by the Denver Broncos and is currently in protocol.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski is taking his time when it comes to deciding who will be his QB this week.

“We will not announce starters at any position on Monday. So what we’re working on is always what’s on the depth chart,” Stefanski said Monday, Nov. 27.“We have a week to sort this out.

So we do things based on who is available. That’s how the NFL works.

This is how we work. It changes every week.

That’s great.”If not Flacco, the Browns will rely on Walker, who started two games and served in place of Thompson-Robinson against the Broncos.

Flacco has been inactive since signing earlier this week.

Walker went 6-of-13 for 56 yards for a 58.5 rating against the Broncos.

The problem for Walker was the turnover rate. He has five interceptions, two fumbles and a sack this season.

Joe Flacco wants to prove he can still play.Even if Thompson-Robinson is cleared to play, Flacco is likely to start.

Cleveland has averaged just 9.3 points in the rookie’s three starts, and bringing in Flacco and his big arm could break the deadlock.

“I’m sure I can still play. Like I said, I’m going to focus on my day job,”

Flacco said at the Nov. 22 inauguration. “As long as I can do that,I think I’ll do my best no matter what the situation is, no matter what my role is, wherever I go.

“Flacco last played for the New York Jets. He passed for 1,051 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in four starts.
