After playing well through the first three weeks (five touchdowns and two interceptions), Jones’ play dipped.

In his last seven games, Jones has five touchdowns and eight interceptions.The Patriots’ problems on offense extend beyond their quarterback.

Because the offensive line is one of the worst lines in the NFL defensively.

The Patriots’ pass receivers also lacked explosiveness until leading receiver Kendrick Bourne was lost to a season-ending knee injury.

However, Jones has had some struggles this fall. Although his numbers were inconsistent, he performed better than his veteran backup.

Jones has been much better than Zappé this season. The Patriots added Trace McSorley, Matt Corral, Ian Book and Will Grier on defense.

Additionally, Malik Cunningham was the team’s top backup quarterback in a game.

Ultimately, each route places Jones at the top of the depth chart. That continued Sunday against the New York Giants.
