Aston Villa has emerged as a potential destination for Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson.
That’s according to Calcio Mercato who highlight that he has interest from the Premier League and the big teams in Serie A.
The 26-year-old impressed in Serie B last season, providing 19 goal contributions in 38 games.
Gudmundsson has carried that form into the Italian top-flight this year and has attracted admirers. Calcio Mercato state that Villa and West Ham are interested along with Napoli and Roma.
With interest for the winger growing, Genoa have tied Gudmundsson to a new contract which will see him at the club until the summer of 2027. The Serie A outfit are claimed to value him at around €20million, but his price could now be “increased” after signing a new deal.
It is said their plan is to hold on to the Iceland international during the winter as he could prove to be important in their fight against relegation this season.
He was brought to the club for a fee of around €1.5million from AZ Alkmaar in January 2022 and has so far netted 22 goals in 64 matches since joining the club.
