With two wide receivers out Sunday, Marquise Goodwin and David Bell, the Browns recalled Austin Watkins Jr. from the practice squad.

It was a great preseason for Watkins, who made one big catch after another that had fans wanting him on the active roster.

Due to injuries at the position as well as the replacement of Donovan Peoples-Jones, Watkins was able to see the field on Sunday.

He’s a stocky wide receiver with solid body control and good physicality to make tough catches at close range.

In total, he had 16 catches for 257 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason.

In addition to Watkins, the Browns are bringing in a familiar face, A.J. Green III, with injuries at cornerback.

Green has been with the team for several seasons and has provided good starts at times when the team has already suffered from injuries and can play some in the slot when Greg Newsome II is unable to play.
