The Cleveland Browns added running back John Kelly to their practice squad, while Jerome Ford’s status was unclear.

Kelly is the third running back the Browns have signed this week following Ford’s ankle injury against the Indianapolis Colts.

Ford has been able to practice sparingly this week, but is listed as questionable. The Browns also signed running backs Jordan Wilkins and Nate McCrary to the practice squad.

Kelly is a familiar face in Cleveland. He appeared in five games for the Browns during the 2021 and 2022 seasons and also played for Cleveland in the preseason.

He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 2018.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ford suffered a mild and severe ankle sprain against the Indianapolis Colts.

The original injury timeline called for Ford to miss one to two weeks.

However, he “surprised” the team with his performance in training.
Browns RB Jerome Ford “surprised” the organization with the way he ran Thursday despite his sprained ankle, according to a source.

After testing Ford in practice today, the Browns are listing him as questionable for Sunday’s game due to his sprained ankle,” Schefter tweeted Friday.
Stefanski on Ford: “I saw a limited player”

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski painted a slightly different picture when speaking to the media.

“I saw a limited player,” Stefanski said of Ford. “I mean, with all these guys dealing with injuries, we’re going to make decisions.

We’ll watch the tape, determine what they’ll look like in 48 hours, and then see where it goes.

Ford took over in Cleveland when Nick Chubb was lost for the season with a knee injury in Week 2. He leads the team in carries (78) and yards (344). He is averaging 4.4 yards per carry this season.

Ford said Sunday that he wants to help in any way he can, even if he can’t understand it. “I will help the team no matter what,” Ford said on Friday (October 27).

“If I can play and be on the field or as moral support, handing out water and making it work. Everybody has what they need.”

If Ford is sidelined, veteran running back Kareem Hunt will take over the lead duties. It’s a surreal situation for Hunt considering he started the year without a team.

“It’s kind of crazy to think about it. Like I said around mid-September, if you had asked me, I probably wouldn’t have said I wouldn’t come back or anything like that, or I didn’t know or I didn’t thought,” Hunt said. , who was signed two days later, Nick Chubb was sidelined with a season-ending knee injury.

“But it happened, it happened for a reason, I think. God has a plan for us and this team.”

Hunt suffered a thigh injury last week, but was able to play against the Colts. He has run for 78 yards and three touchdowns in the last two weeks.

“You have to go out there and play, and that’s basically it,” Hunt said. “It’s hard to really say when and if it will be done, but I think I’ll get better every week and feel great.”

The Browns will once again have to do without quarterback Deshaun Watson against the Seahawks.

Other notable players who are questionable include wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (back), linebacker Sione Takitaki (hamstring) and left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. (hamstring).
