Everton chief Richard Kenyon speaks out about Bramley-Moore Dock development amid 777 takeover twist

Peter Kenyon has revealed everything is on track with the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium despite a twist emerging in the proposed 777 Partners takeover of Everton.

Speaking on a panel at the Leaders Week Summit in London on Wednesday (18 October, via the Liverpool Echo), the Toffees’ chief commercial and communications officer said that the main form of the stadium is there and the roof has almost finished, while the seats will be added in a couple of weeks.

It comes despite the news that the US investment firm that has agreed a takeover of the Blues has failed to provide proof of funds to the government’s Financial Conduct Authority, which has to ratify the deal before it can go through [The New York Times].

“Everything is on track, as we would want it to be,” said Kenyon. “Everyone who has seen it, you can start to imagine now from this stage in construction that it’s at just what a fantastic venue it is going to be.

“It’s a stunning location, a stunning build and there is fantastic progress. The main form is there now, it looks like a stadium. The roof is almost finished and the terracing is in, the MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) work has started within the stadium itself.

“I drive past it most days and every time I do something has changed and it looks even better. There will be an important visual milestone in the next couple of weeks as the seats will start to go in the stadium, so we are getting that close.

“It’s a real game changer for us, our fans and the identity of the club, but also another great venue for a great city that is great at hosting big events.”

Whirlwind

There will no doubt be a whirlwind of emotions for Everton fans at this moment in time due to all of the things going on surrounding the club.

While they will be pleased that the stadium is progressing well and is starting to take shape, there are huge question marks around where the Toffees will be once it is completed.

It does look like a massively impressive structure and it could well turn out to be a game changer for the Blues, but 777 Partners has committed to raising the necessary capital to finish the development as part of its takeover agreement.

If the takeover were to fall through, which there is a good chance that could be the case due to all the reports around the company, that would potentially leave the club in a perilous position.

The situation will perhaps become clearer over the next few weeks but, unfortunately, there are probably too many concerns currently surrounding the club for the fans to get too excited about the new stadium.
