Aston Villa will return to home action when they take on West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday (4:30pm) following the international break.

Unai Emery’s side will be targeting a sixth win in nine games, after sharing the spoils at Wolves last time out. Prior to that draw, Villa were unbeaten in six games in all competitions.

West Ham meanwhile, also come from a draw against Newcastle at home. They sit just two points behind Villa in seventh.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Chris Sutton wrote in his BBC Sport column: “Both of these teams have made strong starts to the season and they both have lots of goals in them, so this is going to be close.

“But Aston Villa have been particularly good at home, where they have scored 13 goals in three league games, and Ollie Watkins is flying at the moment – that’s why I think they will squeak this.”

Sutton’s prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 West Ham.

Robbie Savage meanwhile, predicted a draw for the teams. He told Football365: “Two teams in Europe – who would’ve thought that last season? Villa, under Unai Emery, getting into Europe.

“David Moyes winning the Europa Conference League and now playing in the Europa League. Two teams in Europe meeting at Villa Park. I think it will be a close game.”

Savage’s prediction: Aston Villa 2-2 West Ham.
