Liverpool have been linked with a move for winger Leroy Sané from Bayern Munich before the transfer window reopens.

Liverpool’s attempts to poach Leroy Sané from reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich could be halted.

The Germany international was identified as Klopp’s first choice ahead of Mohamed Salah’s potential departure.

Liverpool sense an opportunity as Sané enters the final 18 months of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

Liverpool could fail in their attempts to sign Leroy Sane as transfer insider Dean Jones has informed GIVEMESPORT of the latest status of the Anfield giants’ pursuit of the Bayern Munich star.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp already appears to have his eyes on the January window despite spending almost £150million on new faces this summer. Latest transfer news

According to the Mirror, Liverpool have chosen Sané as their first target to replace Mohamed Salah and are ready to break their transfer record to reach a deal with reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern.

According to the report, Klopp is keen to lure the Germany international to the Premier League and outspent Real Madrid by spending over £85 million, which saw Darwin Nunez make his acquisition the most expensive acquisition in the Merseyside history, Benfica last year.

Pep Guardiola’s side would benefit from Liverpool luring the winger from the Allianz Arena as they have included a 10% sell-on clause in the deal that brings him back to his home country.

The Reds are trying to exploit Sane’s precarious contract situation as he enters the final 18 months of his £281,000-a-week contract at the end of the year, but Bayern have already shown they are not had no appetite for sanctions following his departure.

Liverpool explored a deadline deal for the 27-year-old during the summer window after Al-Ittihad upped the ante in the hunt for talisman Salah, but a transfer from Bayern could not be sanctioned.

It appears Bayern’s stance has not changed as they prepare to open negotiations on new terms rather than approving Sane’s departure, as they aim to tie him down to a new five-year deal which will take it until 2028.

Jones understands that Sané has a crucial decision to make regarding his future as Bayern will ask him and his representatives to sit at the negotiating table to discuss an improved contract.

The respected journalist refused to rule out the possibility that Liverpool will want to replace Salah when he leaves Anfield with a star who is already among Klopp’s options.

“He has an important decision to make about whether he wants to stay in Germany or return to the Premier League and those discussions are not far away at Bayern Munich.”

“But for me there is still uncertainty as to whether Liverpool will replace Salah directly or whether he will now look for options in this team that could help him.”

“It’s actually a very difficult process to overtake Mo Salah in life because he obviously had a huge impact on their success.”

Will Sané be an ideal replacement for Salah?
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool parted with £34.3 million when Salah was signed by Italian club Roma six years ago and it proved to be money well spent as he became a Merseyside icon.

The Egyptian is just eight goals away from reaching the 200 mark in a Reds shirt, placing him fifth among the club’s all-time top scorers, but Klopp must start planning for a future without the talismanic of forging wingmen at his disposal.

Indeed, respected journalist Ben Jacobs recently told GIVEMESPORT that Saudi interest shows no signs of waning, so a 2024 move is certainly possible, even if Liverpool are keen to retain Salah’s influence.

But Sane could be an ideal replacement for the Anfield favorite as he has made a blistering start to the season, finding the net seven times in 11 appearances.

The stats show Sane also had a better average match rating than Harry Kane, who sealed a £100million move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

FC Bayern Munich’s top five players in the Bundesliga this season based on average match ratings

Sané has averaged a goal every 102 minutes in the Bundesliga since the start of the season, emphasizing that he is in top form and would pose a serious threat in a Liverpool shirt.

But convincing Bayern to sell the former Schalke player, who put his name on the scoresheet 97 times during his professional career, will be a difficult task for the Reds.
