Sean Dyche speaks out on Everton’s alleged breach of financial rules

Everton manager Sean Dyche was asked about the club’s alleged breach of financial rules in his pre-match pres conference for their game at Liverpool

Sean Dyche insists he is “looking at what we can control” as he responded to questions about the club’s Financial Fair Play probe ahead of Saturday’s Merseyside Derby against Liverpool at Anfield.

It was previously widely reported that Everton’s alleged breach of the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules will go before an independent commission on Wednesday October 25 but an article in the Daily Mail on Thursday claimed it was already taking place in secret this week began on Tuesday, with Everton and the Premier League making opening submissions in a behind-closed-doors hearing that is scheduled to conclude next week.

The Premier League are expected to publish the verdict and any sanctions imposed by the tribunal at some point next month without giving advance notice to the other clubs, but will be guided by the commission, who are not working to any set timeframe.

Asked if he’d been given reassurances on the matter, Dyche said: “No it’s more a case of the ongoing process and we’re part of the process and I’ve stepped into the middle of it. So it’s certainly not something that involves me as manager but it sort of distantly does from the fact that I am manager.

“So I’ll wait and see what the outcome is and when the timelines are. At the minute I don’t know any more than that.”

The prospect of potential points deductions was then put to the Blues boss who added: “I’m sure there are people talking about lots of different things. I’m just looking at what we can control, I certainly can’t control any of that side of the club.”
