Simon Jordan agrees with Everton ‘survive’ claim live on talkSPORT after latest 777 Partners twist

Simon Jordan has agreed with talkSPORT host Sam Matterface that Everton need a financial investment if they are to survive going forward.

777 Partners are awaiting the green light to complete a takeover of Everton, although the New York Times reported on Wednesday (18 October) that there are now fresh concerns with regards to the American investment fund.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday [18 October, 12:05] Jordan suggested that 777 Partners failing to get a deal over the line is not necessarily the be-all and end-all for Everton.

However, when Matterface asked if there needs to be “some change of a culture, or financial investment, if this club is to be able to survive”, Jordan replied: “Yes, I think that’s probably right.

“But that doesn’t mean you jump from one bad set of circumstances to another.

“Farhad Moshiri, and whoever has switched the tap off, I’ve always maintained there’s a real concern about where that money’s come from. Moshiri still has the means to fund Everton, but not the desire.”

Everton are in desperate need for someone to buy out Moshiri, but whether or not 777 Partners are the best option is another question entirely.

In an ideal world, the American backers would have been pushed aside way before now if the negative comments from supporters of others clubs in their portfolio is anything to go by.

But Everton are not exactly in a position in which they can pick the ideal candidates to take over, because there simply aren’t any other serious options out there.

It remains to be seen whether 777 will be given the green light by the relevant authorities to take over, but even if not, hopefully the club can continue ticking along financially for a little while longer.

With a decision also due in the coming weeks regarding an alleged breach of Financial Fair Play rules, it is set to be a truly pivotal period in the club’s history.
