Mohamed Salah’s replacement, identified as Kenny Dalglish, is a Liverpool youngster

Liverpool have been told who to look for as Mohamed Salah’s replacement, while a potential teenager has caught the eye of club legend Sir Kenny Dalglis

The international break has begun and Liverpool will not return to action until October 21, when they face rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be looking to mount a title challenge this season and will be hoping they can get back to winning ways against the Toffees after failing to win their last two Premier League games.

They were controversially defeated by Tottenham last month before drawing against Brighton this weekend.

Liverpool are currently fourth in the league, just three points behind Tottenham and Arsenal, while they have also started the Europa League season unbeaten with wins over LASK and Union Saint-Gilloise.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool news.

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock believes the Reds should sign Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia if Mohamad Salah leaves the club.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Warnock said: “Everyone is replaceable. I said it about [Luis] Suarez, I said it about [Philippe] Coutinho and he [Salah] will be replaced in time.

I think the big problem is: “If you get a £175 million offer from Saudi Arabia with Salah, it’s hard to say no.

“I wouldn’t sell him in January, but maybe next season, but only if someone else is on the roster.” They need someone exciting, the only player that comes to mind is Kvaratskhelia.

He’s the only player we think is young, has potential and can play, but he’s a left-wing player. Could he play on the right?

Dalglish greets Doak

Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish is a big fan of 17-year-old talent Ben Doak and says the striker has a chance of being included in Scotland’s Euro 2024 squad with Steve’s squad Clarke close to qualification.

Doak started in Liverpool’s Europa League win over LASK and was a regular on the bench in the Premier League, catching the eye of Dalglish with his progress.

“He’s still a baby, isn’t he?” He’s done really well in just a year and a half,” he said of Doak.

“He won’t be far away [from Scotland]. He was on the bench at Brighton [last weekend] and has come into the Europa League.

If he does it well, he has a lot to offer. There’s more going for him then against him.”

Former Liverpool star Xabi Alonso has impressed as Bayer Leverkusen manager

Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has made an impressive start to his managerial career and has been touted as a potential replacement for Klopp.

Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen are currently top of the Bundesliga, two points ahead of Bayern, after an unbeaten start to the season.

As a result, the Spaniard has been linked with several top jobs across Europe after signing a new contract this summer which runs until 2026.

However, according to Sport Bild, Alonso has inserted a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave next summer to take over at one of his former clubs, namely Liverpool, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.
