An American court has issued an arrest warrant for former Chelsea and Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge

An arrest warrant has reportedly been issued for former Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge.

According to the Daily Mail, the arrest warrant was issued after Sturridge failed to appear in court in Los Angeles.

The former Chelsea man reportedly failed to appear in court over money he allegedly owed to a man who claims to have found his dog.

In July 2019, Sturridge publicly offered a reward for anyone who can safely return his pet Pomeranian after he claimed it was stolen from his home. You can view the images below.

Sturridge said: “We will pay everything for the dog. The one that brings my dog back, 20,000, 30,000, whatever.

“Who knows who entered my crib, I’ll pay you everything. I’m dead serious. I will pay anything, no matter what the cost.”

American rapper Foster Washington, known under the name Killa Fame, claimed to be the one who found Sturridge’s dog and revealed that he had not received the promised payment.

In December 2021, Sturridge took to Twitter and said: “Just letting you know the truth at Christmas. I met a boy who found my dog and paid him a reward, which he was happy about, just as I was happy to get my dog back because he had been stolen.

“Other people try to take advantage of it for their own personal gain. Thanks again to the little boy. I am very grateful that Lucci is back with our family.”

A Los Angeles court ordered Sturridge to pay Washington $30,000 after a default judgment because the former striker had not responded to the American’s complaint.

Speaking to Mail Sport, Washington said: “or for me, it’s a matter of principle.

He promised me the money. That’s a significant amount of money that could change my family’s life.

“He thinks he’s above the law. He thinks that because he is rich, he doesn’t have to respond to what’s going on. That’s why I had to ask the judge to issue an arrest warrant for him to pay the money.
