Postecoglou claims that the ‘complete’ 20-year-old Spurs talent has been training well.

Ange Postecoglou, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has hailed Spurs youngster Alejo Veliz for his hard effort since joining the club.

The Tottenham manager told football.london that the 20-year-old Spurs forward is getting stronger and impressing in training.

Tottenham recruited Veliz from Argentine club Rosario Central in the summer for a reputed £13 million cost, according to BBC Sport.

Spurs have had to be patient with the kid after an injury sidelined him early in the season.

Veliz has worked hard to catch up and earned his Tottenham debut as a substitute against Liverpool.

Last month, the Argentine star played 28 minutes in the EFL Trophy win over Colchester.

‘He will continue to work hard.’
Postecoglou, commenting about Veliz prior of the Luton match, expressed interest in seeing how the player progresses.

“With Alejo, we obviously signed him and he came in with an injury problem,” Postecoglou added.

“So, knowing the demands of the Premier League and our training, we took a conservative approach.”

“He’s had to work hard, but we brought him in to help us in the front third as a first-team squad member.”

“He’s getting stronger and has had a good few weeks of training.”

“It was great to get him on and I’m sure he’ll keep working hard to make an impact for us and help us.”

In our opinion
When the Spurs signed Veliz, nobody on these shores had heard of him, but he made waves in Argentina and seems like a future star.

He scored 11 goals in 23 Liga Profesional games for Rosario this season, and he made 63 professional appearances in all.

Veliz has been labeled a ‘complete forward’ by Football Talent Scout, who compares his style of play to Raul Jimenez.

He’s obviously young and fresh to the Premier League, so he’ll need some time to adjust, not to mention progress as a player in general.

It will be interesting to observe how Veliz performs and develops while at Tottenham. Hopefully, he can live up to his full potential.

Veliz could play against Luton Town after making the matchday squad for the last two Premier League games.
