Mohamed Salah reacts to the Tottenham Hotspur vs. Liverpool squabble

On Saturday evening, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were defeated by Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Liverpool lost 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League in North London.

Spurs won thanks to an own goal by Joel Matip in the sixth minute of injury time.

Liverpool finished with nine men.

As you would expect in most Premier League games these days, there were referring and VAR controversies.

Luis Diaz controversy during Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

One incident that Liverpool fans will be very displeased with is the ‘goal’ from Luis Diaz that was chalked off.

Diaz thought that he had scored the opening goal of the match for Liverpool.

The Colombia international winger was adjudged to be in an offside position, though.

The problem was that officials quickly ruled Diaz’s goal offside without showing the customary offside line graphics.

PGMOL has since released a statement admitting that it was human error, adding that the goal should have stood.

Mohamed Salah reacts

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has made his opinion on the matter clear.

As you can see below, the Egyptian forward has ‘liked’ a post in which the analysts make it clear that Diaz’s goal should have stood.

I understand that mistakes happen.

Everyone makes mistakes.

However, this was a major blunder.

And, it could have been avoided.

The VAR officials should have taken their time.

There was no need to rush into making a decision.

We know that some decisions take a lot of time.

VAR is there to help the on-field officials and make the right decisions.
