Romano: Liverpool are in ‘good’ negotiations to sign Andre

Liverpool remain keen to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre despite missing out on him during the summer transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds were keen to sign the Brazil international this summer as Jurgen Klopp overhauled his midfield.

However, Fluminense rejected Merseyside’s approach for the 22-year-old as they had no intention of selling him until January.

Liverpoolthen turned their attention to Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, but lost to Chelsea.

Ultimately, the Merseysiders completed moves for Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch during the closing stages of the window.

Liverpool also added Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to their ranks this summer.

But despite the Reds spending heavily on midfield reinforcements, Romano left the door open for Andre’s arrival.

The journalist claims Liverpool remain interested in signing Andre and have had “positive” discussions with Fluminense.

On Here We Go podcast (h/t Express), the transfer guru explained:”

Is not over yet, it’s still something we have to keep an eye on because Liverpool really like Andre.

They’ve had positive talks with Fluminense, they have a good relationship.

Andre is considered a rising star with a lot of potential.

He has demonstrated his abilities as a deep-lying attacking midfielder for Fluminense and looks ready to take the next step in his career.

So far in 2023, the midfielder has made 43 appearances in all competitions for the Rio de Janeiro club.

Treached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores.

The of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer have meant a loss of quality in Liverpool’s engine room.

Over the years, the England and Brazil national teams have been key to Klopp’s success at Anfield.

Although the Reds have signed Endo, it remains to be seen whether the Japan international can meet the demands of the Premier League. Stefan Bajcetic is also in their ranks, but he still lacks experience.

The offensive performances of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Gravenberch are undoubtedly their strong point.

Therefore, it would not be surprising if Liverpool pursue a more defensive midfielder like Andre in the next transfer window.

According to Express, the South Ameri can will cost around £30 million, so he would be a cost-effective signing if Liverpool decide to do a deal in January or next summer.
