Liverpool  transfer news LIVE – Vinicius Junior ‘hope’, Pedro Goncalves interest, Nico Williams plan

Liverpool transfer news, rumours, gossip and speculation including the latest on Goncalo Inacio, Thiago Alcantara, Jorrel Hato and more

Liverpool are edging closer to their return to Premier League action following the international break. The Reds travel to Wolves in the early kick-off on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the transfer window in England may be closed, but it is still open in Turkey.

And according to reports in the region, Reds midfielder Thiago Alcantara is subject to interest from a Turkish Super Lig side, who are looking to make a late attempt before Friday’s deadline.

Elsewhere, defensive additions are being touted as Liverpool look to refresh their backline as part of the reinforcing of Jurgen Klopp’s team.

It was widely publicised that the midfield was the priority this summer with four new additions in the engine room at Anfield.

But with Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip in their 30s, Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio and Jorrel Hato of Ajax are reportedly being mooted.
Liverpool haven’t given up on Nicolo Barella

Inter Milan have reportedly found a replacement for midfielder Nicolo Barella.

According to Il Romanista, Liverpool have been monitoring the Italian for a number of months and Jurgen Klopp’s side have never given up hope on seeing him “play at Anfield”.

Four things spotted in training as Liverpool get double boost but Thiago wait goes on

After nearly two weeks away from Merseyside due to the international break, most of Liverpool’s stars returned from their international jaunts to prepare for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

And although there was no involvement for the Reds’ South American contingent, who represented their countries just over 48 hours ago, there was plenty to be taken from the latest session at the AXA Training Centre.

Thiago Alcantara ‘wants to leave’ Liverpool before tomorrow’s transfer deadline in Turkey, it has been claimed.

The Reds’ midfielder has today been linked with a move to Trabzonspor, who are looking to add to their squad at the last minute.

A latest update from AS on Thiago’s situation has stated the Spaniard is keen to secure this move, though the Liverpool coaching staff ‘prefers that he does not leave’.

It is added Liverpool are ‘not open to any negotiation’ for the 32-year-old, despite a two-year deal – with the option of the third – being put forward.

A number of Liverpool players have today returned to training after the end of the international break.

Among those to be filmed at the Reds’ AXA Training base are Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago, each of whom are injury doubts heading into Saturday’s game at Wolves.

Ivan Toney is expected to leave Brentford during the January transfer window, an anonymous agent has claimed.

The English striker is currently banned from playing until January due to a breach of betting rules, though will be free to return to competitive action from the New Year.

Discussing the future of the forward, an agent involved in the football industry told the Athletic:

“It’s destined to happen when he gets back (after his ban) and (the deal) can get sorted whilst he’s out,” said one agent.

“Good for him and maybe even Brentford too.”

Alisson reportedly received a ‘considerable pay rise’ this summer, understood to now make him the third-highest earner in the squad behind Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

The Brazilian goalkeeper has been in fine form in the last year for the Reds and was the club’s standout performer during a dismal campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Athletic state a clause was triggered in his existing contract with the Reds regarding a pay increase and that Alisson is ‘happy and settled’ at the club despite talk of Saudi Arabian interest.

Liverpool are said to be ‘keeping an eye’ on Sporting midfielder, Pedro Goncalves.

The 25-year-old was linked with a move away from Portugal this summer, though ended up agreeing a new contract to keep him at the club until 2027 instead.

This is not believed to have deterred clubs from making a move for his services, as reported by O Jogo, with Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle and Liverpool.

It is added Goncalves has a €80million (£68.82m) release clause as part of his new deal.

Vinicius Jr ‘hope’

The possibility of Vinicius Junior joining Liverpool next summer has not been ruled out amid uncertainty of Mohamed Salah’s long-term future.

The Reds managed to keep hold of Salah this summer, though there is an expectation Saudi Arabian sides will return with offers for his services in January and at the end of the season.

Should Jurgen Klopp’s side cash in on the Egyptian, they will have to go out and source a replacement for their talismanic figure.

One name who has been mentioned as a possible candidate capable of filling this void is Vinicius, whose current deal is set to expire next summer.

Spanish outlet Sport have suggested ‘a door for hope could open’ for Liverpool due to his future remaining up in the air.

It had been suggested last summer the Brazilian had agreed a new long-term contract at the club, though this is still yet to be confirmed by the club.

As a result, the Reds ‘remain waiting as long as there are possibilities of signing him’.
